Ski holidays in Tandådalen – varied skiing and accommodation

Tandådalen is divided into two areas – the eastern side with wide carving slopes and a Snow Park, and the area around Tandådalstorget offering more challenging skiing. Here, varied terrain is combined with children’s areas, ski school, accommodation and convenient transport lifts to Hundfjället.

Skiing in Tandådalen

Tandådalen is one of the most varied ski areas in Sälen, making it a great choice if you want to get the most out of your time on the slopes. Here, you’ll find both wide, open runs for long carving turns and more technical terrain with steeper sections.

The eastern side of Tandådalen is known for its wide blue and red runs and open landscape – perfect if you’re looking for smooth skiing with plenty of space. Around Tandådalstorget, you’ll find more variety and several of the area’s more challenging slopes, including those by the Solliften lift, where some of Sälen’s steeper runs are located.

From Tandådalen, it’s easy to continue to Hundfjället via transport lifts. This makes it simple to combine two ski areas in one day and enjoy even more variety on the slopes.

Where should you stay in Tandådalen?

In Tandådalen, you’ll often stay very close to the slopes – many accommodations offer ski-in/ski-out or short walking or gliding distance to the lifts. This makes it a great choice if you want to maximise your time on the mountain.

At the same time, Tandådalen is more spread out than areas like Lindvallen. This means your choice of accommodation has a bigger impact on your stay – both in terms of proximity to skiing, access to services and how quiet you want your surroundings to be.

If you want to explore more options, you can also browse accommodation in Sälen across several different areas.

Stay close to lifts and skiing

In the central parts of Tandådalen, you’ll find some of the most popular accommodations, with very short distance to lifts, restaurants and services. Here, you often stay ski-in/ski-out or just a few minutes’ walk from the slopes.

Accommodation such as Panorama, Ski Apartments Tandådalen, Sportvåning, Snöloftet, Solbacken and Grå Byn are all located very close to the lifts. This makes the area especially convenient if you want quick access to skiing in the morning and easy breaks during the day.

Close to the centre – but quieter

Just outside the most central areas, you’ll find accommodation that still offers good access to lifts and services, but in a slightly calmer setting. Here, you’re typically within walking distance of skiing, restaurants and shops – without being in the busiest part of the resort.

Areas such as Fjällvilla, Stjärnbyn, Tandådalens Stugby and Tandådalens Fjällhotell are well suited for families and groups who want to combine proximity to skiing with a bit more space and a quieter atmosphere.

Cabin areas with mountain views and more privacy

If you prefer a more nature-focused stay, there are several larger cabin areas located a short drive or bus ride from lifts and services. These areas typically offer more space, scenic views and a quieter environment.

Areas such as Orrliden, Gusjösätern, Myrflodammen, Hållbrändan, Flatfjällsåsen and Tandåliden provide a more traditional mountain experience. The Ski & Bath bus makes it easy to reach both Tandådalen and Hundfjället without a car.

Who is Tandådalen best for?

Tandådalen is especially well suited for those who want to stay close to the slopes and maximise their time skiing. It’s also a great option for families and groups looking for variety, with easy access to Hundfjället for more runs and experiences.
