Vemdalen is one of Sweden's largest skiing destinations - a snow-sure gem of a skiing resort nestled among deep forests and high mountain tops. Life off the slopes is a bit calmer here than in Sälen and takes place in harmony with the surrounding nature. Just a couple of hours away is Östersund airport, which has international flights and direct transfers to Vemdalen.
Vemdalen consists of three different ski areas. Getting around is easy with the ski bus. The skiing is varied and includes slopes both above and below the tree line, with plenty of challenges for both beginners and advanced skiers.
The ski areas boast a number of modern express lifts and one of Scandinavia's fastest 6-seater chairlifts. All the ski areas have large, specially tailored children's and beginners' areas with easy-to-use lifts and gentle slopes.
The cabins and hotels in Vemdalen are in a modern Scandi style with a focus on authentic natural materials that tastefully blend into the surroundings.
And if you're into your food for heaven's sake don't miss out on a visit to one of Vemdalen's many intimate restaurants focusing on local artisanal food creations. You'll also find the unique Sami theme heritage Lopme Laante close by, which offers visitors the chance to experience Sami culture close up.
