Arrival and departure in Sälen
Arriving in Sälen before you can check in, or have a few hours to spare after check-out? Find information about luggage storage, getting changed, SkiPass, ski hire and getting to or from your accommodation.
Arriving in Sälen before check-in?
If you arrive before your accommodation is ready, you don’t have to wait for your holiday to begin. You can sort out your SkiPass and, depending on your booking, your ski equipment, or use the time to eat, shop or enjoy something else in the ski area. If you need to store your luggage or get changed, you’ll find information about the options below.
You’ll find your check-in time and information about where to check in on My Page. Bear in mind that the check-in location may be some distance from both your accommodation and any luggage storage.
Luggage storage and getting changed
If you arrive before check-in or have a few hours to spare after check-out, luggage storage is available at the following locations:
- Lindvallen: SkiStarshop Experium
- Tandådalen: SkiStarshop Tandådalen
If you need to get changed before heading out for the day, it can be convenient to do so when dropping off your luggage. Choose your luggage storage location based on where you’re staying and how you plan to travel onwards during the day.
If you’re staying at a hotel, you may also be able to leave your luggage there before check-in or after check-out. Contact the hotel before you arrive to check what’s available.
Want to start skiing straight away?
If you’ve pre-booked your SkiPass and ski hire, you can often sort out the final details on arrival and head out onto the slopes before check-in. Check your booking to see what applies to your ski equipment.
If you selected delivery for your pre-booked ski hire, your equipment will be delivered to your ski storage area during the afternoon.
If you’ve bought a new SkiPass card, you can collect it from a SkiPass pick-up machine or a SkiStarshop. If you’ve topped up a SkiPass card you already have, you can go straight to the lift.
If you haven’t pre-booked, you can buy or top up your SkiPass and book ski hire directly in the SkiStar app. You’ll also find your bookings and other useful information for your stay there.
What can you do while you wait?
If you have several hours before check-in, use the time to get to know the area where you’ll be staying. Around the main squares and service points you’ll find restaurants, shops and other things to do while you wait for your accommodation to be ready.
Looking for inspiration? Use the interactive map in the SkiStar app to find your way around and locate lifts, slopes, services and activities. The activity calendar also shows much of what’s happening in and around the ski areas during your stay.
Tip: Agree on a meeting point and add the people you’re travelling with in SkiStar Game. That way, you’ll be better prepared if you get separated in the ski area over the next few days.

Getting to your accommodation
Luggage storage, bus stops and check-in locations are not always next to your accommodation. Check in advance how you’ll get to your accommodation when it’s time to check in.
You can use SkiStar Bus in Sälen where it suits your journey. The ski bus is free with a valid SkiPass, which also serves as your ticket. You can also book a taxi with Sälenbuss at info@salenbuss.se or +46 (0)280 20300.
For information about how check-in works, including digital keys and what you need to do once your accommodation is ready, see the page about check-in and check-out.
Have time to spare after check-out?
If you have a late bus, transfer or other journey home, the day doesn’t have to end when you check out. Arrange luggage storage in advance and use your final few hours for skiing, lunch, shopping or something else in the area.
Check your check-out time on My Page and plan your day around when and where your journey home begins.
Getting to your bus or transfer
If you’ve booked a transfer, check the stop and departure time in your booking confirmation. The stop may be some distance from your accommodation or luggage storage, so plan how you’ll get there and allow plenty of time.
If your booked transfer departs from a central stop, you’re responsible for getting there yourself unless your booking states otherwise. Depending on where you are, you can use the ski bus or book a taxi for the final part of the journey.
