Sälen, Trysil and Vemdalen are especially well suited to families with children. You’ll find large children’s areas, many easy slopes and ski school for children who want to learn to ski.

Sälen, Trysil and Vemdalen are good choices for beginners, with green and blue slopes where it is easy to get started. Åre and Hemsedal also have areas suited to those who want to start at a calmer pace.

Åre and Hemsedal are well suited to those looking for more challenging skiing, with red and black slopes, steeper terrain and a more alpine feel. Trysil also has several options for experienced skiers.

Skiing in Sälen

Family-friendly Sälen is Sweden’s largest alpine destination and one of our most popular ski resorts.

Skiing in four different areas in Sälen

  • Lindvallen, with its wide and moderately steep slopes, is perfect if you enjoy big, smooth carving turns.
  • At Högfjället, most slopes are blue and green, so the whole family can ski together from the top.
  • Tandådalen offers both higher-energy skiing and more challenging slopes, as well as lovely blue carving slopes.
  • In Hundfjället, there is skiing and slopes for every taste, from steep Väggen to the children’s favourite Trollskogen.

Skiing in Åre

Åre offers a unique combination of skiing and entertainment in one of northern Europe’s most atmospheric mountain villages. As Åreskutan is large, there are slopes and lifts in several directions.

Åre offers skiing in different types of terrain

Åre By includes Stendalen and Tväråvalvet, which are located in high mountain terrain above the tree line, Ullådalen with long green and blue runs through mountain birch terrain, and Rödkullen, where the ski school has its meeting point.

Åre Björnen is especially well suited to children and families, reflected in its range of beginner and children’s slopes. In Duved, the pace is calmer, and the skiing offers great variety in both vertical drop and natural surroundings.

Skiing in Vemdalen

Here, everyone in the family can ski at their own level

In Vemdalen, there are three ski areas with good vertical drops and slopes for all levels.

  • Vemdalsskalet stretches across two mountains, with a wide variety of runs and an express lift at each base station to take you quickly back to the top. Vemdalsskalet also has a large children’s area, where you’ll find Skalet Express – a chairlift designed with children in mind.
  • In sunny Björnrike, skiers of all ages can enjoy a comfortable holiday with restaurants and accommodation close to the slopes. At every lift exit there are always two alternative slopes, one easier and one more difficult – perfect for families and groups of friends who want to ski together but are at different levels.
  • Klövsjö/Storhogna stretches across two mountains and offers both challenging black slopes and wide children’s slopes with soft natural snow.

Skiing in Trysil

Ski in Norway’s largest ski area

Family-friendly Trysil is Norway’s largest ski area, with everything from large children’s areas to varied skiing on long, wide slopes. Everything is built around Trysilfjellet, where broad, long slopes wind down the mountainsides and continue below the tree line.

High mountains surround Hemsedal and create an atmosphere reminiscent of the Alps. Kilometres of groomed slopes run down along three different peaks, offering hours of skiing for everyone who loves being on the slopes.

Ski in the middle of Stockholm

At Hammarbybacken, there are four slopes for anyone who wants to ski in the city.

On the far left is the beginner slope, with a conveyor belt that makes it easy for children and beginners to get back up. If you are interested in jumps and rails, SkiStar Snow Park is a good practice area for beginners and intermediate riders.
