A skills area is a practice area where you can practice jumps, curves, balance or just enjoy biking as they're great fun. The trails are a fun technical exercise for both kids and adults - pretty much any bike will work for these, but a bit of shock absorbing probably won't go amiss.
You need a TrailPass to cycle in skills areas. TrailPass is always cheapest online and you can quickly and easily pick up your pre-booked TrailPass in one of our SkiPass pick up-automater.

Choose the right bike for skills areas in Sälen
As skills areas often involve jumps, it's best to leave your touring bike behind. It's a matter of taste whether you want to use a full-suspension downhill bike or trail bike, or a front-suspension trail bike. These are fine to use in both skills areas and pumptracks. If you want to jump, a full-suspension bike can provide a more comfortable experience. If you don't have one, you can rent a bike in Sälen.
Children's bikes
Children from 115 cm can use a downhill bike, and trail bikes are available from 95 cm. For slightly smaller children, a balance bike is suitable if you're visiting the Sälen Skills Areas.
