Vemdalen offers an extensive trail network with groomed cross-country tracks in both alpine terrain and forested areas. The trails are maintained regularly to ensure good conditions throughout the season and are located close to the ski areas.
Cross-country skiing in Vemdalen
The cross-country trails in Vemdalen are located in close connection with the ski areas in Björnrike, at Vemdalsskalet, and in Klövsjö and Storhogna, as well as at several other locations in the area.
The trail network offers both classic and skating styles, with a range of distances and difficulty levels – from easy loops to more demanding tracks.
Cross Country Arena Björnrike
Cross-Country Arena Björnrike offers both classic and skating tracks. Several trails of varying lengths are available, including 3 km of floodlit tracks. Facilities at the arena include a warming hut, toilets and a waxing hut.

Information and guidelines in the cross-country trails
- Dogs must always be kept on a lead and may only run in the skating track. Please clean up after your dog.
- Never walk in the cross-country tracks.
- Child sledges may only be used in the skating track if fitted with skis that do not damage the classic tracks.
- Follow the designated directions of travel.
- Skiers approaching from behind must give way. Please step out of the track and allow faster skiers to pass when possible.
- Please thank skiers who step aside. This helps maintain a positive atmosphere on the trails.
- Always stop at the side of the trail and ensure your poles are not obstructing others.
- Step out of the track when using the herringbone technique to avoid damaging the tracks.
- Adjust your speed to the conditions and be prepared to stop for unexpected obstacles.
- Be aware that trail conditions may change depending on the weather.
- Respect nature. Take your litter with you and avoid disturbing wildlife.
