SJ – together for sustainable travel to the Scandinavian mountains

We have entered into a long-term partnership with SJ, where we want to make train travel the obvious choice for all skiers, hikers and nature lovers.

Our customers want to travel sustainably

During the winter, we conducted a customer survey in which we asked our guests if they would consider travelling more sustainably – today, around 90% of our guests travel to the mountains by car.

The customer survey showed that many guests want to choose a more sustainable mode of transport – for example, 32% of those surveyed would consider taking the night train to Åre. For Hemsedal, the figure is 30% if the journey is made easier by a transfer on site or earlier check-in, as luggage is considered an obstacle.

We therefore want to work with SJ to create attractive alternatives and comprehensive solutions for convenient travel to the mountains. This could include package deals that combine train and transfer services.

Our ambition for the 2025/2026 winter season

• More departures and shorter travel times between Stockholm and Åre.
• Dedicated transfer buses for passengers taking the train to Sälen.
• Earlier ticket release for SJ night trains.
• Simpler baggage handling at and in connection with stations.
