Why do we offer a discount on HVO100?

Where we can make a difference, we should make a difference. Read more here about how, together with OKQ8 and you as our guest – we can reduce our shared climate footprint by switching to renewable fuel.

We want to keep our winters white

Future generations should be able to enjoy white winters, skiing, and vibrant mountain nature. No one can solve the climate crisis alone, but every choice counts. The reason behind this joint initiative is clear:

  • Our guests’ travel accounts for 73% of SkiStar’s total climate footprint.
  • 85% of our visitors drive to the mountains.
  • 40% drive diesel cars.

Renewable to the Mountains is the initiative that makes it easier and more affordable for our guests to choose a fuel with lower climate impact. By giving you a discount on HVO100, we want to lower the threshold for you and other mountain travelers to try renewable diesel. A simple choice that makes a big difference.

  • Those who choose HVO100 at the pump can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%* compared to those who choose fossil diesel.
  • For example: 20 million liters of fossil diesel are refueled by our guests from Sweden and Denmark visiting our destinations.

Our hope is that mountain travelers increasingly choose HVO100 instead of fossil diesel – because if that high figure of 20 million liters of fossil diesel decreases every year, we take steps to reduce our shared climate footprint and promote a behavioral change that truly makes a difference.

Footnotes

*The revised EU RED III method (EU/2018/2001) is used for calculating emissions in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The reduction in greenhouse gas emissions varies depending on region-specific legislation and the raw material mix used to produce the product for each market. The emission reduction refers to your driving when refueling with Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ (HVO100) from a life-cycle perspective. More info can be found here.
