Arrival and departure in Vemdalen

Arriving in Vemdalen before check-in or have a few hours to spare after check-out? Here you'll find information about luggage storage, changing facilities, SkiPass, ski rental and what to do while you wait.

Arriving in Vemdalen before check-in?

If you arrive before your accommodation is ready, you don't have to wait for your holiday to begin. You can leave your luggage at Vemdalsskalet or in Björnrike, sort out your SkiPass and ski equipment, start skiing or spend the time eating, shopping and getting to know the area where you'll be staying.

You'll find your check-in time and information about where and how to check in on My page. Vemdalen consists of several ski areas, so bear in mind that the check-in location, luggage storage and your accommodation may not be close to one another.

Luggage storage and changing facilities

Unattended luggage storage is available at two locations in Vemdalen and can be used by all guests:

  • Vemdalsskalet: Next to Check-in 31. There is a toilet with a shower that can be used for changing.
  • Björnrike: Next to Check-in 36. There are toilets that can be used for changing.

Choose your luggage storage location based on where you're staying and how you plan to get around during the day. If you're staying in Klövsjö or Storhogna, it may be worth choosing luggage storage based on where you want to ski during the day. With a valid SkiPass, you can then use SkiStar Bus to continue your journey.

Want to start skiing straight away?

If you've pre-booked ski equipment, collect it from the ski rental location specified in your booking. If you've purchased a new SkiPass card, you can collect it from a SkiPass pick-up machine or a SkiStarshop. If you've loaded a SkiPass card you already have, you can go straight to the lift.

Once your luggage is sorted and your SkiPass and equipment are ready, you can head out onto the slopes even before check-in.

If you haven't pre-booked, you can buy or top up your SkiPass and book ski rental directly in the SkiStar app. You'll also find your bookings, the interactive map and other practical information for your stay there.

What can you do while you wait?

Vemdalen consists of several areas, and distances can be longer than they appear on the map. If you have a few hours before check-in, it's therefore often easiest to stay in or close to the area where you'll be staying.

In the interactive map in the SkiStar app, you'll find restaurants, shops, services, lifts and warming huts. You can also use it to plan the rest of your stay. Please note that dogs are not allowed inside the warming huts in Vemdalen.

You can also prepare for your days on the slopes in SkiStar Game. Add the people you're travelling with and choose a shared meeting point in the ski area. This makes it easier to find each other again if you get separated during the day.

Vemdalsskalet

When it's time to check in

Check My page for information about where and how to check in and where your accommodation is located.

During parts of the winter season, you can use SkiStar Bus in Vemdalen to travel between the ski areas. The bus is free with a valid SkiPass, which also serves as your ticket. If you don't have a SkiPass, you can buy a bus ticket by card on board.

For information about how check-in and check-out work, including digital keys and what you need to do once your accommodation is ready, see the page about check-in and check-out.

Have some time to spare after check-out?

If you have a late bus, transfer or other journey home, your day doesn't have to end when you check out. Luggage storage can also be used after check-out. Spend your final hours skiing, having lunch, shopping, swimming, enjoying the spa or doing something else in the area.

Check your check-out time on My page and plan your day around where your luggage is stored and where your journey home begins.

Getting to your departure point

Check well in advance where your bus, transfer or other journey home departs from. Your departure point may be some distance from both your accommodation and the luggage storage, so plan how you'll get there and allow plenty of time.

If SkiStar Bus works for your journey, you can use the ski bus for part of the route. Always check the current timetable and the location of your nearest stop before departure.

If you need a taxi or transfer, you can submit a booking request to Taxi Klövsjö Vemdalen. Booking requests are answered within 36 hours, so make sure to book well in advance of your journey. They provide taxi and transfer services in areas including Vemdalsskalet, Björnrike, Klövsjö and Storhogna and can also be contacted on 0706 225 226.

If you're travelling by air, you'll find information about airport transfers, taxis and onward travel on the page about flights to Vemdalen. If you're travelling by train, you'll find information about connecting transfers on the page about trains to Vemdalen.
