Early start for cross-country skiing in Trysil
Experience early cross-country skiing in Trysil! With snow stored from last winter, 3.5 km of groomed tracks are ready from 31 October to 14 December.
During the pre-season, you need to purchase access to the cross-country skiing tracks. After the pre-season, cross-country skiing is free of charge.
Cross-country skiing is popular during pre-season, so we recommend booking your ticket in advance to secure your spot.
Pre-Season at Trysilfjellet Arena
Welcome to Trysilfjellet Arena for early-season skiing on stored snow! Here you can ski on groomed trails for both classic and skate skiing. The tracks are of high quality and lit up in the evenings, so you can also train after dark.

Cross-country skiing in Trysil is popular and offers many groomed trails in both forest and mountain terrain. The entire municipality has an extensive trail network that suits both beginners and experienced skiers once the natural snow has arrived.
Stored snow at Trysilfjellet Arena
Trysilfjellet Arena offers 2.5 kilometres of tracks for both classic and skate skiing even before the regular ski season begins. Few places can offer this so early in the year. The arena also features a complete biathlon facility.

- Alternate between classic and skate skiing to train different muscle groups.
- Start with flat sections if you are new to cross-country skiing.
- Bring extra clothing and energy.
- Make use of the lighting for evening sessions.

What is stored snow?
Stored snow is snow saved from the previous winter or produced artificially to open the trails before the natural snowfall arrives. This snow is used to prepare the tracks at Trysilfjellet Arena.
After the early season
Once the early-season period is over and the natural snow has arrived, it is free of charge to use the trails elsewhere in Trysil. If you want to go cross-country skiing at SkiStar destinations across the border, you will need a Cross Country Pass or a SkiStar All Winter pass.
