Travel by train to Sälen via Mora
Travelling by train to the mountains is a comfortable alternative to driving. During winter 2026/27, Snälltåget operates Saturday services to Mora between 19 December and 10 April. From Mora, a connecting transfer bus continues to Sälen.
How the journey works
Once you board the Sälen service in Sweden, Snälltåget takes you to Mora. A connecting bus is timed to meet the train and continues to the ski areas in Sälen.

Departures in winter 2026/27
Services to Mora operate on Saturdays between 19 December 2026 and 10 April 2027. The route varies depending on the departure date, so the train does not call at the same Swedish stations every Saturday.
Most services run from Malmö towards Mora via southern Sweden and Stockholm, while selected departures travel via Helsingborg, Halmstad and Gothenburg. Check the timetable for your travel date before booking.
Transfer bus from Mora to Sälen
The transfer bus from Mora stops at several SkiStar ski areas. Choose the stop that best matches your accommodation:

- Lindvallen – Sälfjällstorget
- Högfjällshotellet
- Tandådalstorget
- Hundfjällstorget
Travelling from outside Sweden
If your journey starts outside Sweden, you will need to connect with the Sälen service at a suitable station in Sweden. International connections and the train to Mora may need to be booked separately, so check the complete journey before making your reservation.
When flying is easier
If the train connections do not work well from your starting point, flying can be a much quicker way to reach Sälen. Scandinavian Mountains Airport is just 10–25 minutes from the ski areas, with direct winter flights from several European cities including London, Amsterdam, Groningen and Copenhagen.

Skis and luggage
Skis and larger items can be checked into Snälltåget's luggage carriage and should be booked in advance. Always check the latest baggage conditions when booking your journey.
Food and drinks on board
Snälltåget has a restaurant carriage, Krogen, serving food and drinks during the journey. Meals can be pre-ordered, and a table reservation is recommended if you plan to eat in the restaurant.
Alternative journey via Mora
You can also travel to Mora using other train services and continue to Sälen by public bus. The train and bus are booked separately, so check the connection for your travel date.
