Project 83 Eco
Extrem Ski Co and SkiStar Launch Project 83 Eco – The World’s Most Sustainably Produced Ski
For the 25/26 winter season, Extrem Ski Co, in collaboration with SkiStar, is launching the Project 83 Eco. This ski is manufactured in Extrem’s own factory in Åre, which is powered by 100% renewable and 100% fossil‑free energy from local hydropower.
From the beginning, the goal has been to build a ski with the highest possible share of bio‑based and recycled materials, without compromising durability or longevity. This likely makes the Project 83 Eco the world’s most sustainably produced ski, with a carbon footprint below 28.8 kg CO₂ per pair.
Sustainability in Focus
The perhaps most important aspect from a sustainability perspective is that a ski can be used for a long time. That’s why the Project 83 Eco features the market’s thickest steel edges and bases, designed to withstand as many days on snow as possible.
“When we presented the Project 83 Eco concept, SkiStar became interested right away, as it aligns perfectly with their own sustainability work. Beyond the sustainability aspect, the ski model itself turned out incredibly well and is now part of Extrem’s regular lineup.”
Carl Geijer, CEO of Åre Skidfabrik and Extrem Ski Co.
The Extrem Project 83 Eco is a slightly wider piste ski offering strong edge grip and smooth handling in all conditions—from freshly groomed slopes in the morning to churned‑up afternoon snow. Its construction provides a great balance of stability and agility, while a light rocker in the tip and tail makes it easy to maneuver in any situation.
“This is a great ski that fits perfectly across all our five destinations, whether on early‑morning corduroy or in spring slush.”
Markus Skullman, Buyer at SkiStar
This winter, the Extrem Project 83 Eco will be available for rental at SkiStar’s five destinations, as well as for purchase in SkiStarshop stores, the SkiStarshop online store, and Extrem’s own webshop.
