Winter news in Sälen

We are continuously developing Sälen to provide our guests with an even better mountain experience through improved facilities, services, and accommodation. Ahead of the winter season 2026/2027, several major new features are coming that will make Sälen even better for the whole family.

A new wide experience slope takes shape in Lindvallen

We are taking the next step in Sälen and introducing a new experience in Lindvallen – a slope where skiing meets innovative light installations.

The new slope is created by opening up the areas between Ulla and Johan and connecting them into a wide, continuous piste. The result is a slope of approximately 16 hectares and up to 160 meters in width, making it the widest slope in Sweden.

There is plenty of space here for playful and varied skiing. The generous width, combined with well-designed lighting, creates a completely new skiing experience, where the light follows you all the way down and enhances the ride.

The Snowman makes a comeback

The Snowman is back in Lindvallen in a new form. The iconic meeting place returns to the top of Gustavbacken and becomes part of the experience all year round.

For many guests, the Snowman brings back strong memories from previous visits to Sälen. With its comeback, we connect history with new investments and create a place where both nostalgia and new experiences have room to grow.

Scandinavia’s best snow guarantee

Snow is the foundation of a truly great ski experience. For the winter season 2026/2027, we are introducing Scandinavia’s best snow guarantee – so you can book your trip with extra peace of mind.

140 new snow cannons in Sälen, and we guarantee at least 30 open slopes throughout the season – a clear increase compared to previous levels.

The snow guarantee applies from 18 December 2026 to 4 April 2027 and gives you the option to rebook or receive a refund if the conditions are not met.

Please note: The Alpine Snow Guarantee does not apply to temporarily closed lifts or slopes due to, for example, technical problems or bad weather.

Travel easily to Sälen by train and transfer

From next winter, you can travel with Snälltåget to Mora and continue by transfer to Sälen. The transfer is included in the journey, so you can relax for more of the way to your ski holiday.

If you want to travel by train to Sälen, the journey is easy to book on skistar.com, with departures from cities including Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Linköping and Uppsala. 

Wasakölen in Lindvallen

Wasakölen is Lindvallen’s newest accommodation area and a more affordable option if you want to stay comfortably close to skiing, cross-country trails and services.

Here you stay within easy reach of Lindvallen’s slopes, SkiStarshop and the ski bus, while Experium, with its water park, spa, bowling, restaurants and after ski, is within walking distance.
