Travel to Trysil by train
Trysil does not have a railway station, but train travel can still form part of the journey. Travel via Oslo and continue by coach, with selected train and transfer journeys available to book with SkiStar.
New: Easier train travel to Trysil with Snälltåget
From winter 2026/27, travelling to Trysil by train becomes much easier. Board Snälltåget in Copenhagen or several cities in southern and western Sweden, travel all the way to Oslo without changing trains, then continue with the included coach transfer to Trysil.
The train and transfer can be booked together with SkiStar, and return travel is also available. Plan the journey in one place, then sit back and enjoy the journey to the mountains.
The service runs every week with departures on Saturdays and Sundays. The first arrival is 19 December 2026 and the final arrival is 21 March 2027.
Travel to Oslo without changing trains
Snälltåget starts in Copenhagen and calls at Malmö, Lund, Helsingborg, Halmstad, Mölndal, Gamlestaden and Trollhättan before continuing to Oslo.
Coach transfer from Oslo is included
In Oslo, you change from the train to the coach transfer included in your journey. The coach stops at Turistsenteret, Høyfjellssenteret and SkiStar Lodge Trysil.
Other train journeys via Oslo
If the Snälltåget departure does not suit your travel dates, Oslo is still the most useful rail hub for travelling onwards to Trysil. From Oslo Bus Terminal, continue to Trysil by coach.
If your journey through Norway follows the Røros Line, Elverum can also be used as a connection point for buses to Trysil.
Is there a quicker alternative?
For many international visitors, flying to Trysil via Oslo Airport or Scandinavian Mountains Airport may be quicker than travelling most of the journey by rail. The best option depends on where your journey starts and which departure dates suit you.
