Stensjön there and back – an easy walk in Sälen

A short and easy family walk to Stensjön above Lindvallen. The route is 3 km there and back and follows boardwalks and a gravel trail.

Walk to Stensjön

From the Snögubben restaurant, the trail crosses open mountain terrain to Stensjön. It is wide and easy to follow, making it a good choice for families and anyone looking for a shorter mountain walk.

When Gustav Express is open, you can take the lift up to the Snögubben restaurant. Alternatively, you can follow the challenging Kari Traa-leden from Lindvallen, walking up the ski slope and continuing onto the mountain.

At Stensjön, you can see the distinctive rock formations and stop for a break before following the same trail back to the starting point.

Surface and terrain

The trail follows boardwalks in places and a gravel trail elsewhere. Bear in mind that rain and changing weather can affect the surface.

Bike to Stensjön with children

The route is also suitable for anyone who would like to try biking with children in Sälen. It is short, but includes sections of boardwalk, so children should be confident on their bikes and speed should be adjusted to the surface.
