Travel to Hemsedal
Hemsedal is in Hallingdal in southern Norway, between Oslo and Bergen. It is around 200 km from Oslo and 270 km from Bergen, with several ways to complete the journey to the mountains.
Getting to Hemsedal
For many international visitors, Oslo is the main gateway to Hemsedal. You can continue to the mountains by air and coach, train or hire car, and from winter 2026/27 a new Snälltåget service makes it easier to combine rail travel with an included transfer.
New: Snälltåget to Hemsedal with transfer in Oslo
From winter 2026/27, you can travel to Hemsedal by train with Snälltåget from Copenhagen through southern and western Sweden to Oslo. From there, an included coach transfer continues to Hemsedal. Train and transfer can be booked together with SkiStar.

Travel via Oslo
If you fly to Hemsedal via Oslo, you can continue from the airport by coach, train or hire car. By rail, travel towards Gol and continue by coach for the final part of the journey.
Travel via Bergen
Bergen can also be a useful gateway, particularly if your journey approaches Norway from the west. From Bergen, you can continue by car or by train to Gol with an onward connection to Hemsedal.
Bring your own car
If you are travelling from continental Europe, you can combine the journey to Hemsedal with a ferry and keep your own car throughout the holiday.
