Åre is referred to as the alpine capital of Northern Europe, and to maintain this reputation, it's always important to think about how the customer experience can be further improved. This brings new developments to the ski resort, which will help Åre retain its position as one of Sweden's best ski destinations.
Safer snow conditions
Åre is initially a snow-safe destination, however, guests can have an even easier time with some big investments in snow production. Quick access to the slopes contributes to better experiences. Additional snow securing is being worked on from Copper Hill to Björnliften, which will make the slopes more accessible with ski in/ski out.
Even better experiences for children
Valles Ski Cross is a small ski cross track that will be ready for the winter season. In the Rödkullen children's area, kids can try out ski cross in safe surroundings and experience joy and excitement.
Sustainability
It is important to take care of the mountain environment. With several large ski areas in Åre, there are many machines in operation, but electrification will lead to less emissions and less noise. Seven snowmobiles will be replaced with electric snowmobiles, along with an electric snow groomer.
This summer, we started a unique collaboration with Länstrafiken, which will continue this winter. The collaboration is based on fossil-free bus traffic. Initially, biodiesel will be used, which will later transition to electricity. It is quite special that a private operator is collaborating with Länstrafiken to make improvements for guests and the general population.
Accessibility and efficient queuing systems
During Easter, we tested a new queuing system at the lifts. This was very promising and will help guests make ongoing assessments in the resort to get the most out of their skiing.
This winter, the system will be in place at around 11 lifts, providing more visibility regarding expected queue times. This will help you as a guest to seek out areas with fewer people, shorter queues, and more skiing.
Easter falls late in the 24/25 winter season, and those who aren’t quite ready to end the season can enjoy spring skiing until May 4th.
Conceptstore Hanson and Skistarshop Torget have both undergone a refresh and modernization to enhance the guest experience on site.
Improvement of accommodations
With many apartments around the resort, there is always a need for renovations. Apartments in Björnenhuset and Brunkulla are undergoing renovations to ensure that guests have an even cozier time on late and dark winter evenings.
Facilities
If the weather isn’t helping you getting the most out of your skiing, there are fun activities at Åre Sportcenter. A climbing hall was added here, which opened towards the end of last winter season.
Unfortunately, Restaurant 720 had to close due to a fire, but it will finally reopen, offering guests good food, atmosphere, and fantastic views.
