What’s new in Vemdalen this winter

For winter 2026/27, snowmaking and the snow guarantee in Vemdalen are being strengthened. With 202 new snow guns and at least 20 guaranteed open slopes, planning your ski holiday will be more reassuring. Tjejmilen is also getting a whole new winter edition in Vemdalen.

A major boost for snowmaking

Vemdalen is getting 202 new snow guns for winter 2026/27. This will significantly increase snowmaking capacity and strengthen the work to secure good conditions throughout the winter season.

The investment will help provide more stable conditions on the slopes, whether you visit early in the season, around Christmas and New Year or at Easter.

At least 20 open slopes

The alpine snow guarantee is being expanded, giving you greater reassurance when planning a ski holiday in Vemdalen. From 18 December 2026 up to and including 4 April 2027, we guarantee at least 20 open slopes.

Tjejmilen Längd is coming to Vemdalen

In March 2027, Tjejmilen Längd Vemdalen will take place for the first time. The iconic race is moving into the cross-country tracks for a completely new winter experience on snow.

The race is 10 kilometres long and follows Vargenspåret at Vemdalsskalet. You can choose classic or skate skiing, and the course is also suitable for those with limited cross-country skiing experience.

Here, the experience is just as important as the performance, whether you want to take part in your first cross-country race or enjoy the day with friends, family or colleagues.

How the snow guarantee works

The snow guarantee means that Vemdalen must have at least 20 open slopes* during the guarantee period. If Vemdalen cannot deliver the promised alpine ski product, you have the right to cancel or interrupt your stay and receive your money back.

This applies until 11:00 on the day after arrival.

You can also choose to change your trip to another SkiStar destination if that suits you better.

What will be refunded

We refund products you have booked through SkiStar, including:

• SkiPass
• Ski rental
• Ski school
• Accommodation
• Cancellation and rebooking protection

*The snow guarantee does not apply when lifts or slopes are temporarily closed due to, for example, technical issues or bad weather.
