The Mitigation Hierarchy

We operate in areas classified as Natura 2000. This entails a significant responsibility, one we take very seriously. Therefore, our goal is to apply the mitigation hierarchy in all our projects by 2030.

The mitigation hierarchy forms the foundation of our work to protect and enhance biodiversity. It helps us make sound decisions at every stage. In practice, this means we always follow this order:

  • Avoid impacts
Our primary goal is always to avoid impacting nature altogether.
  • Minimize impacts
If impacts cannot be avoided, we ensure they are kept as small as possible through various measures.
  • Restore nature
If an area is affected, we actively work to restore it, for example through ecological restoration.
  • Offset when necessary
Only when all other options have been exhausted do we compensate for any remaining impact.

In this way, we ensure responsibility at every step and contribute to preserving mountain nature for future generations.

Completed projects

We have completed three development projects focused on growth and sustainable land use. In all projects, we have applied the mitigation hierarchy to minimize environmental impact and ensure long-term sustainability. Environmental assessments have been carried out to guide planning and decision-making, helping protect valuable natural environments.
