Syndalsturen – varied mountain hiking in Sälen
Discover a longer day hike in varied mountain terrain. The Syndalsturen takes you through wetlands with abundant birdlife, then up onto the mountain with expansive views, and back along a clear stream. The hike is approximately 15 km as a round trip.
Hiking on the Syndal Trail from Myrflodammen
The hike starts at Myrflodammen, where you follow the marked trail to the left of the dam. The first section goes through easy-to-walk marshland, partly on boardwalks, before you reach Kläppenskjulet – a natural place for a break.
After that, the hike continues up toward Lägerdalsfjället, where the landscape opens up and offers views in all directions.
At the fork, turn left back toward Myrflodammen. Here the trail descends steeply toward Kruggån and follows the crystal-clear stream back to the starting point.
Surface and terrain
The hike takes place over varied terrain with both trails, boardwalks, and sections without maintenance. Some stretches may be wet, especially after rain, and it is recommended to wear shoes with good grip.
Although the hike is classified as moderately difficult, it takes place in mountain terrain where weather and conditions can change quickly.
Starting point and loop
The hike is a loop with the start and finish at Myrflodammen. From here, you follow the marked trail all the way back to the starting point.
There is parking available at the starting point, and the hike can be completed without transportation along the way.
