Off-piste in Åre

Åre is one of Scandinavia’s best-known areas for off-piste skiing and freeriding. Here you’ll find open mountain terrain, forest areas and challenging terrain outside the groomed slopes. The opportunities are excellent when conditions are right, but all skiing outside the slopes involves risk. Weather, snow, visibility, terrain and your own ability level must always be assessed carefully.

Åre offers varied off-piste skiing for anyone who wants to experience more of the mountain than the groomed slopes. Conditions can change quickly here, especially in the higher parts of the ski area. That is why it is important to choose terrain based on the day’s weather, snow conditions and your own experience.

Discover Åreskutan beyond the slopes

Off-piste skiing in Åre can range from calmer tree skiing to large open mountain faces and more demanding lines. On good days, there are many opportunities for varied skiing, but the terrain can also be more challenging than it first appears.

Before heading out into the terrain, it is important to familiarise yourself with the current avalanche information. Never ski outside the slopes without first assessing the weather, snow conditions, terrain and your own ability level.
