The three most famous ski resorts in Sweden

Our three ski resorts in Sweden are located in the regions of Dalarna, Jämtland and Härjedalen, all known for their amazing nature, culture and history. Here you'll find Sami villages, reindeer crossing the ski slopes, the majestic northern lights and vast vistas of wilderness.

Sweden is world famous for its innovative food culture, something which is reflected at all our ski resorts. Families are very important to us here at SkiStar and we offer childcare, safe ski areas specially tailored to children and fun children's activities at all our ski resorts in Sweden.

Sälen - a family suited and beloved ski resort

There are few Swedes who have not visited Sälen, here the mountains are rolling and the view stretches for miles. Sälen is one of Sweden's most loved ski resorts and consists of four ski areas, Lindvallen, Högfjället, Tandådalen and Hundfjället, and here is also Scandinavia's most modern chair lift. The ski areas have everything from northern Europe's largest continuous button lift area to one of Sweden's steepest ski slopes and there is a free ski bus between the areas. The seal is a mecca for families with children. Here there is an adventure pool, indoor surfing, shopping, dog sledding, snowmobile safaris, lots of children's activities and a large number of restaurants with local specialties.

Åre - a historic and world-renowned ski resort

Åre has been named Sweden's best ski resort many times at the World Ski Awards, most recently in 2021 the ski resort won the award. In Åre, the feeling of a big city meets a quaint ski resort. The range of restaurants and shops quickly pick up on new trends and many Stockholmers visit Åre frequently during the winter months to get away from the noise of the big city and enjoy world-class skiing. There are two airports near Åre, both Östersund in Sweden and Trondheim in Norway, and for those who prefer to take the train, the station is in the middle of the village, within walking distance of the center.

Vemdalen - a genuine mountain gem

Vemdalen is one of Sweden's largest ski resorts and a snow-sure skiing gem nestled among deep forests and high mountain peaks. Here, the pace outside the ski slopes is a little relaxed than in Sälen, and nature is always close. The three ski areas Vemdalsskalet, Björnrike and Klövsjö and Storhogna have several modern express lifts and one of Scandinavia's fastest 6-chair lifts. All ski areas boast large prepared children's and beginner areas with simple lifts and flat ski slopes.
