Skogshorn

Experience Hemsedal’s signature mountain – a hike that truly takes you to the heart of the high mountains. Skogshorn rises to 1,728 m above sea level and is one of the most famous and photographed mountains in the area.

The hike takes you through varied terrain, from trail and beautiful mountain forest to open mountain sections and rock formations near the summit. Along the way, you will encounter the characteristic Sherpa steps, which make the ascent both more accessible and part of the experience.
This is a demanding hike, but the reward at the top is great – wide views over Hemsedal, the surrounding mountains, and all the way to Jotunheimen. The hike is well suited for those who want a classic summit hike experience with a clear trail and a strong nature experience.

Starting point and parking

Drive about 4 km from Hemsedal center to Ulsåk and turn off toward Lykkja. Follow the road for about 13.5 km until you see signs for Skogshorn. Park at the Trefta parking area on the right side of the road.
