Åre railway station is in the centre of the village, making rail one of the easiest ways to arrive without a car. The main rail gateways are Stockholm, southern Sweden and Trondheim in Norway.

From Stockholm

SJ operates services to Åre and Duved throughout the year, including direct daytime and overnight trains from Stockholm. This also makes Stockholm a useful gateway if you arrive there by air.

Snälltåget operates seasonal overnight trains from Malmö via Stockholm to Åre. Services run during the winter season and during parts of summer and early autumn.

From Trondheim

From Trondheim, travel towards Storlien and change for the final journey to Åre. This route also makes train a useful option after flying to Trondheim Airport Værnes.
