Skutskjutet in Åre – 50 years
On 18 April, it all kicks off in Åre. Skutskjutet celebrates 50 years – a high-speed downhill race that for half a century has brought together skiers with a taste for speed, challenge and camaraderie. The anniversary year offers classic Skutskjutet spirit, strong traditions and new world-class memories.

New competition area is Björnen
This year's edition of Skutskjutet will be held in Björnen, on slope 106 (Fröåsvängen) and lift B37 (Sadelexpressen).
The starting point will be a bit down on Fröåsvängen (106) with the finish above the Hermelinliften valley station (B38). It will be clearly signposted. The event area with exhibitions and activities will be at the Hermelinliften valley station.
The following lifts open at 07:00 on race day:
- Stjärnliften (Å30)
- Fjällgårdsexpressen (Å34)
- Sadelexpressen (B37)
- Björnenliften (B40)
- Vargliften (B42)
Extra bus will run between Kabinbanan and Björnen (Carins Krog) at 07:00-09:00.
Pre-registration for Skutskjutet is closed. Late registration can be done on site at SkiStarshop Hanson, Åre Square, until Friday 17 April at 19:00.
About the race
Skutskjutet is Scandinavia’s largest downhill race. With 21 start classes, skiers of all ages – from beginners to veterans – gather for a high-speed race day and one of Åre’s most classic sporting celebrations.
Team competition for everyone
Bring friends, family or colleagues and compete in teams of 3–5 people. The three fastest times count, and everyone can contribute to the team result.
Prizes are awarded for categories including fastest team, most creative team outfit and best family team. The day concludes with a prize ceremony and a large outdoor afterski.
Shared start time for families
Families or groups with participants competing in different categories – for example, an adult in the Adults category and a child in the Children category – may, upon request, start together while still competing in their respective classes.
This cannot be booked in advance, but you can leave a note during the booking process and we will coordinate the shared start time manually.
Entertainment for all ages
Skutskjutet offers exciting races, great atmosphere and attractive prizes. A day filled with speed, spectators and camaraderie – both on and around the course.

Prizes
Everyone who crosses the finish line during Saturday’s race will be entered into a draw for great prizes. he award ceremony will take place at Åre Square at 16:00 in conjunction with outdoor après-ski where Silversnow will be on stage.

Bib collection and late registration
Bibs and chip can be collected and late registration can be made at SkiStarshop Hanson. Please note that late registration is not available on race day.

Chip collection on competition day, Saturday, April 18, is done at SkiStarshop Björnen from 07:30 Saturday morning.

What’s new in the anniversary year
The Retro Race – Skutskjutet 1976 Edition
As a tribute to the race’s origins, the anniversary year features a retro competition where participants race in 1970s-inspired ski clothing and equipment. A jury will judge style, outfit and retro spirit.
