Ski School at Hammarbybacken

During the winter season Hammarbybacken will offer ski school for both children and youth. This is a perfect opportunity for those living in or near Stockholm to learn or improve their skiing and snowboarding skills—without having to travel far.

Our ski school is designed to suit both beginners and those who already have some experience on the slopes.

Practical Information

• Meeting point: By the SkiStar flag below the children’s slope (Vemdalen).
• Each course is a single session and runs for a predetermined lesson time.
• When you book ski school in Hammarbybacken, a SkiPass is included in the price.
• Ski rental is booked separately – if you don’t have your own equipment, it can easily be pre-booked and picked up on site at the SkiStarshop in Hammarbybacken.
• Please arrive in good time to collect your ski rental on weekends. The rental shop opens 30 minutes before the lift opens on weekends.
• Guardians are responsible for ensuring that students have all their equipment on when the lesson begins.
• Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis – so book now to secure your spot!

Alpine or Snowboard

Whether the children want to start with traditional alpine skiing or try snowboarding, there are courses to suit. At Hammarbybacken’s ski school, we offer lessons in both disciplines, with trained and skilled instructors who focus on fun and safe learning.

Beginner or Intermediate Course in Hammarbybacken

To make ski school accessible to everyone, you can choose between three levels.

Level 1 - beginner

No Prerequisites, apart from the child being able to be away from their parents/guardians for the entire lesson.

Level 2 - basic skills

The child can turn and brake on green slopes, use a T-bar lift and is ready to ski on blue slopes.

Level 3 - intermediate skier

The child can ski confidently and in control on blue slopes, use all types of lifts and is ready to ski on red slopes.

Children or Youth in Hammarbybacken

To ensure that lessons are both engaging and developmentally appropriate, we’ve divided the ski school into two age groups:

Valle’s Ski School (ages 5–7) in Hammarbybacken

This group is specially designed for the youngest skiers and offers a playful atmosphere that turns ski lessons into exciting little adventures.

Youth Course (ages 8–15) in Hammarbybacken

Here, instructors focus on building more advanced skiing and snowboarding skills in a dynamic and challenging environment. Perfect for young people who want to progress and gain even better control on the slopes.
