Nästa generation Sverige

The path into the Swedish labour market is still influenced by where you live, who you know - and who your parents are. That's why we're proud to be one of the first companies in Sweden to offer SAO jobs to young people.

Aiming to reach more young people

At SkiStar, we want to increase diversity and open doors to the world of work for more young people in society - and create interest in mountain jobs through relationship-building activities! As part of this work, we are helping to develop SAO jobs for young people in vulnerable areas, to give more people a chance to see the opportunities in Sweden's labour market.

Students from year eight get a taste of working life with us

Under the leadership of the Next Generation Sweden initiative, in the spring of 2025 over a hundred young people from year eight at Väsby school in Upplands-Väsby and St Olofsskolan in Sundsvall have been able to apply for jobs and attend job interviews at various companies to get so-called SAO jobs.

During March and April, the young people will have their first day of work as part of their school education and, in collaboration with Next Generation Sweden, SkiStar will be welcoming two of these students to our office in Stockholm. The job will be divided between administrative tasks in the Stockholm office and operational tasks in Hammarbybacken.

What are SAO jobs?

SAO stands for Studiemotiverande Arbetslivsorientering and is an alternative to the current PRAO. In PRAO, young people in year 8 get to practice for 1-2 weeks, with SAO jobs, young people instead get to work with real tasks, 2 hours a week, for a whole year.

At the same time, it requires students to keep up with their studies and school attendance. The job should not replace any studies - but stimulate them.

Who is Next Generation Sweden?

The Next Generation Sweden initiative is a non-profit organisation founded by Evin Cetin and Caroline Berg.

They have developed an employment model called SAO-jobb, which enables young people to apply for and get a first, paid job alongside their studies - as early as secondary school.
