Destination companies

All our destinations are currently involved in local initiatives, where we work with the local destination company. Read about some of our local initiatives here.

Destination Sälenfjällen

Destination Sälenfjällen represents around 150 member companies, of which SkiStar Sälen is one, and is concerned with solving general issues to give visitors the best possible experience.

Sustainability is an important part of our joint efforts and includes improvements to infrastructure and the “Keep the Mountain Clean” project.

Åre Destination

Together with Åre Destination, we strive to be an attractive destination all year round. By operating a year-round business, we can develop sustainable solutions that make a difference to jobs, public transport and more. One such example is the new Stjärn lift, which was designed to be usable in both winter and summer.

Destination Vemdalen

We naturally collaborate closely with Destination Vemdalen and there are many areas where our efforts overlap. One example of a project that we co-financed and worked on together was our investment in tours and hiking trails.

Our aim here was to make the most popular trails more secure so that they could handle more visitors, while keeping the impact on the surrounding nature to a minimum – so one of the things we did was to build stone steps up to Fettjeåfallet. This, in turn, has made hiking more accessible.

Destination Trysil

2015 saw the start of the new cycling project in Trysil, run by Destinasjon Trysil, which involved several stakeholders and we were one of the investors. The trails are designed to minimise wear and tear on nature and to blend in with the surroundings and require little maintenance.

Cycling in Trysil in the summer is now as natural as skiing in the winter and has brought many positive benefits such as new summer activities and more jobs. We continue to develop cycling in Trysil to get more people moving.

Destination Hemsedal

In winter 2023, we took a big step together with Hemsedal municipality, Destination Hemsedal and Vy bus by investing in public transport between Gol and Hemsedal.

Our buses are now adapted to match the daily train traffic from Oslo and Bergen, all year round. To minimise our impact on the environment, we have introduced strict environmental standards for the buses, which are either powered by HVO or are electric.
