Safety precautions in our ski areas

In our ski areas we've introduced a number of safety precautions to help you feel safe and enjoy your winter holiday and plenty of fabulous skiing.

  • Keep a ski pole length apart in the lift queues.
  • In the lifts you'll only travel with your family or your group.
  • All lifts are still manned, but please ask the lift attendant if you need help boarding the lift.
  • Don't lower the hoods on the chairlifts (does not apply in Trysil or Hemsedal).
  • In Åre, a limited number of passengers are allowed on the cable car (Kabinbanan) and the Gondola.
  • In Norway the number of guests is currently limited. Every other seat may be used on the chairlifts, but whole groups or families may use all the seats.
  • The SkiStar app allows you to easily top up your SkiPass in real time while waiting in the lift queue, provided you have your SkiPass card (plastic card) with you. If you haven't got a SkiPass card, there are vending machines in the ski area where you can buy it.
  • The number of places in the heating shelters is limited. Members of staff will assist if needed.
  • We are looking at ways of optimising the distribution of skiers at our destinations between the available spaces and times. At some ski resorts, for example, we are evaluating whether to extend the opening hours of the lifts during certain periods (does not apply in Trysil or Hemsedal).
  • To prevent and reduce queuing, the lifts will run at full capacity. Any empty spaces between, or next to, groups and families will be left empty if preferred.
  • Ski buses - we follow each country's rules regarding public transport.
