This summer, two brand new machine-cut XC bike trails will be opening in Björnen and the plan is to create a hub for cross-country in the area, based around Åre XC Arena.
And that's not all! The existing trails are being signposted and graded, while the Valles gruvgång bike loop is being prepped for all the cycling-mad youngsters. The new mechanically-cut trails are relatively wide, flat and free of roots and stones. In order to keep the trails dry and to protect the environment, bridges, crossings and drainage have been built. In other words, the new trails are suitable for most cyclists, and children and adults will have a great time cycling together.
New XC trails 2018
- Mineralen, 4-km blue trail.
- Kopparen, 6.5-km blue trail.
- Valles gruvgång, approx. 150-metre green trail.
- Fröåvägen, 4-km green trail. Existing "shared trail".
To cycle the trails, you'll need a TrailPass. You can buy your TrailPass at the quick ticket machines at the XC arena, as well as at the SkiStar shops in Åre. The TrailPass facilitates the continued development and maintenance of the trails with a focus on sustainability for wildlife, land owners and visitors.
