RECORD SNOWFALL IN JANUARY

New snow record for Hemsedal this January
Never before has so much snow been recorded in January at the Metrologic Institute at Hølto in Hemsedal since the register was started in 1896.

The record which stood for 32 years at 131,2 mm was beaten by 2 mm this January.

"As a rule 1 mm precipitation translates to 1 cm snow when the air temperature is below 0 degrees. So far this winter in total 209 mm of precipitation has fallen as snow and slush at the Hølto weather station which, lies at the same altitude as the base of the ski centre".
