Vemdalsskalet
Skiing on two mountains – Hovde and Skalsfjället – with a total of 18 slopes and 10 lifts (including 2 chairlifts). Here you will find skiing to suit all tastes.
Vemdalsskalet is the most enjoyable ski circus in the mountains. Five slopes on Skalsfjället and thirteen on Hovdefjället – together they offer the perfect mix of relaxation and challenge. Hovdefjället has been part of Swedish skiing culture since 1936, when the very first slope was carved out. This mountain offers the most important preconditions for first-class skiing: substantial vertical drops and varied terrain. These conditions have also been unusually well utilised. Perhaps it is because Hovde is a ski mountain created by passionate skiers for equally passionate skiers. The idea of "by skiers for skiers" also applied when Skalsfjället (naturally linked to Hovde) was given a complete facelift a few seasons ago. Head to the top with a fast, comfortable 6-seater chairlift. Down a handful of long slopes, ranging from blue to black. All built to make the maximum use of the terrain and provide the greatest possible enjoyment.
A circus should embody happiness and laughter, surprises and excitement – and all of this awaits you at the Vemdalsskalet ski circus. Most of the laughter probably comes from the children's own ski and play circus at the foot of Hovde. With broad, gentle slopes, easy-to-use button lifts and a conveyor for the very smallest. Nearby service building with toilets, a microwave and space to take a rest. And best of all, it is close to Hovdegubben's cabin, where you will find a mountain creche and children's après ski, as well as loads of playing and noise when the Hovdeklubben gang meet up there after skiing. If you want to stay really close to Vemdalsskalet's white delights, then Högfjällshotellet (apartments and rooms) is the place for you. Equally close to the lifts, services and entertainments are Hovdebyn, Sörgårdarna, Skalsbyn and Skalsterrassen.
