Hemsedal has two ski areas; Hemsedal Ski Resort and Solheisen Ski Centre in Grøndalen with a total of 24 lifts and 52 slopes and park areas.

High altitude and a northern location ensure a long and cold winter season, lasting from the beginning of November until early May.
