Free rental of helmets and adjusting the bindings

Helmets and wrist protection can be rented for free at all ski rental outlets in Hemsedal Ski Resort. Remember that all children up to 6 years ski for free when using a ski helmet.

Remember to check the release mechanisms on your skis are properly adjusted to minimize the risk of injury if you fall. The ski rental shops in Hemsedal Skiresort will adjust your bindings for free. Remember to get the bindings adjusted when buying children new boots.

Code of conduct for skiers / snowboarders

1. Respect for others. A skier/snowboarder must behave in such a way that he/she does not endanger or prejudice others.

2. Control of speed when skiing/snowboarding. A skier/snowboarder must be in
control and must adapt his speed and manner of skiing/snowboarding to his/her personal ability and to the prevailing conditions of terrain, snow and weather as well as to the density of traffic.

3. Choice of route. A skier/snowboarder coming from behind must choose his/her route in such a way that he/she does not endanger skiers/snowboarders ahead.

4. Overtaking/skiing straight down. It is forbidden to ski straight down, except when participating in organised training. A skier/snowboarder may overtake another skier/snowboarder above or below and to the right or to the left provided that he leaves enough space for the over taken skier/snowboarder to make any voluntary or involuntary movements.

5. Entering, starting and moving upwards. A skier/snowboarder entering a marked run, starting again after stopping or moving upwards on the slopes, must look up and down the slopes so that he/she can do so without endangering himself or others.

6. Stopping on the piste. Unless absolutely necessary, a skier/snowboarder must avoid stopping on the piste in narrow places or where visibility is restricted. After a fall in such a place, a skier/snowboarder must move clear of the piste as soon as possible.

7. Climbing and descending on foot. A skier/snowboarder either climbing or descending on foot must keep to the side of the piste.

8. Leaches and ski brakes. The use of leaches or ski brakes is mandatory. Make sure that the bindings are properly adjusted.

9. Respect for signs and markings. A skier/snowboarder must respect all signs/markings.

10. Assistance/Identification. At accidents, every skier/snowboarder is duty bound to assist. Every skier/snowboarder and witness, whether a responsible party or not, must exchange names and addresses following an accident. Norwegian Ski Lift Association, International Ski Federation.

Rules for the Terrain Park

1.  It is not alowed to use the elements in the park until you have checked out the
level of difficulty and conditions.

2. Always adjust your speed and riding to the terrain, snow conditions, traffic and your own capabilities.

3. Don’t stop on the landings or other places where you can’t be seen.

4. Check the degree of difficulty on jumps and landings. See that no one is standing on the landing, or the line you have chosen.

5. Always choose a line you can handle and stick to it.

6. Long leach is mandatory. Helmet, back and wrist protection is recommended.

7. Don’t slide unnecessary before or after jumps, landings, rails to avoid ice
and mogules.

8. Always warm up. Don’t use the bigger jumps in strong winds.

9. You have a responsibility to yourself and others. In case you fall, get
out of the landing area as quickly as possible.

10. In case of accidents, we all have a duty to help. Close the jump until the injured person gets the help he or she needs.

11. Remember that the 10 standard rules of skiing and snowboarding apply in the
park as well.

12. It is forbidden to remove or ignore info signs, nets or other things that
belong in the area.

13. Your SkiPass may be confiscated by not following the rules above.
